Israel is shamelessly using Eurovision as part of its official Brand Israel strategy, which presents Israel’s “prettier face” to distract attention from its war crimes against Palestinians.
Palestinians have called on members of the European Broadcasting Union, the contest’s organizers, to #BoycottEurovision2019 hosted by Israel.
And scores of prominent artists from Europe and beyond, including former contestants and hosts, wrote an open letter supporting the Palestinian appeal to boycott Eurovision.
Now we need your help!
The Israeli government already dropped its condition that Eurovision would be held in Jerusalem, a striking failure in Israel’s PR efforts to assert its illegal claim over the city.
People power works. Together, we successfully urged pop star Lana Del Rey to withdraw from Israel’s Meteor Festival in September, one of twenty artists to do so.
And our movement continues to grow, with scores of DJs and producers recently endorsing the Palestinian call for the cultural boycott of Israel through the #DJsforPalestine initiative.
Let’s work together again to appeal to public broadcasters, songwriters and singers to refuse to whitewash Israel’s ongoing violations of Palestinian human rights.
Stand on the side of justice, freedom and equality. Boycott Eurovision!
Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel
The Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI) was initiated in 2004 to contribute to the struggle for Palestinian freedom, justice and equality. PACBI advocates for the boycott of Israeli academic and cultural institutions, given their deep and persistent complicity in Israel’s denial of Palestinian rights as stipulated in international law.
